Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina Yorkie Rescue helps dogs of Yorkshire Terrier origin throughout North Carolina. NCYR is dedicated to the security, protection and well-being of all Yorkies. We ensure that the best home is found for each of our adoptable dogs so that they can live happily ever after!
Where do our Yorkies come from?
• Surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them.
• Abandoned in shelters when owners cannot be found.
• Rescued from puppy mills and backyard breeders.
The majority of our Yorkies are healthy, happy dogs that simply need a new home. However, because we do not turn away any Yorkie, some are Special Needs dogs. Those special needs may require medical attention ranging from daily shots (due to diabetes) to a special diet to a dental treatment or some type of life-saving surgery.

This could be you! We are searching for special people to match our rescues to their perfect adoptive family.
Since 2006, NCYR has rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed more than 800 Yorkies and other small breed dogs. We have saved dogs that were discarded or nearly euthanized. We have transformed dogs that no one else would take a chance on. NCYR was their last hope for a new life.
Shelters throughout North Carolina call us to rescue Yorkshire Terriers and Yorkie mixes that have no place else to go. We are an important resource for overwhelmed county shelters that are bursting at the seams with homeless pets and dogs for adoption.
We are committed to finding the best homes for our rescues. We make sure each dog's adoptive home will last a lifetime. Our carefully screened adoptions result in placing the right dog with the right family. We pride ourselves on our adoption success rate.
